Meet Laura and Rhonda

We are growing again at Forte! We are excited to welcome Laura Easton and Rhonda Vertefeuille as the newest team members at Forte School of Music. Laura will be teaching piano to all ages and levels, and Rhonda will be teaching singing and beginner piano. Here is a little bit more about our newest teachers.

Meet Laura 

Laura’s musical training: 

Laura has completed her ARCT in piano. Laura also completed the harmony and history that accompany her ARCT certificate.

In Laura’s teaching: 

Laura is a skilled in teaching all ages and levels, and loves to pass along her passion of music to her students. Laura is a kind teacher that takes the time to go at the pace that is best suited to her student.

A little-known musical fact about Laura: 

Laura began piano lessons at the age of 8, and her grandmother was her first teacher! Laura’s grandmother played a large part in her as a musician and says “Piano lessons was the best and most lasting gift she could have ever given me.”

Laura’s favourite style of music to play is:

Anything and everything! Laura loves to play a wide range from pop, to soft jazz, to Beethoven. She also loves to play duets!

 

Meet Rhonda

Rhonda’s musical training:

Rhonda graduated from the UBC School of Music in 2003. She completed a Bachelor of Music, voice being her concentration, with a focus in elementary school education. In 2007, she received an International Montessori Teaching Diploma for children 3-6 years old from the North American Montessori Centre.

In Rhonda’s teaching:

In Rhonda’s teaching she loves sharing her curiosity, appreciation, and lifelong love of learning with her students. Community choral singing is an important part of her life.

A little-known musical fact about Rhonda:

A little-known musical fact about Rhonda is that her grandfather often sang solo in mass in the small, farming community where she is from. Another little-known fact is that she loves to listen to techno/dance music from around the world!

Rhonda’s favourite style of music to sing is:

If Rhonda could choose her favourite style of music to sing it would be in large choirs with an orchestra. Her favourite pieces would be oratorio’s like Handel’s Messiah, or Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony!
