Should I Stay, or Should I Go?

With another surge of Covid-19 cases in the Cowichan Valley, there are many questions being asked about when it is okay to come into the studio and when should you opt for an online lesson instead. We have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions, to help clear up any confusion. If you still find your questions unanswered, please do not hesitate to ask! You can reach the studio by phone (250.715.8200) or email ( at any time to ask anything that remains unclear. Health and safety are our #1 priority at Forte (and making beautiful music)!

Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions:

If I am awaiting Covid-19 test results, but I am pretty sure I do not have Covid-19, is it still okay to come into the studio?

No. If you, or anyone in your household is awaiting Covid-19 test results, you are prohibited from entering the studio. We would love to set up an online lesson, however, so please give us a call!

Someone in our household has Covid-19, is it still okay to send my child in to the studio even if their test came back negative?

No. If anyone in your house is currently in isolation due to a positive test result for Covid-19 you are prohibited from entering the studio.

My child has a case of the generic cold or flu, is it okay if they come in for their lesson?

No. We would prefer to not take any risks, and kindly ask that you call or email the studio to arrange to have an online lesson instead.

Are masks mandatory for students taking singing lessons?

Yes. As per the public health order, masks are mandatory in all indoor public spaces. As of January 1, 2022 Forte now requires students and teachers to wear a medical mask while in the studio. While singing with a mask on takes some getting used to, it is not impossible! We suggest bringing one or two masks to your singing lesson so you can figure out which one feels the most comfortable.

My child stayed home from school today because they weren’t feeling well, is it okay for them to come in for their lesson?

Probably not. If they weren’t feeling well enough to attend school, they likely won’t be feeling up to music lesson. If they don’t want to miss out on their lesson, let’s schedule an online lesson instead!

Is it okay if one of my children waits in the lobby while their sibling has their lesson?

No. The lobby is currently closed. For now, we ask that the lobby be used as a drop-off and pick-up spot only.

What happens if we use both our make up lessons for the school year while we’re in isolation for Covid-19?

The studio is being a bit more flexible for students and families that are in isolation due to Covid-19 or are awaiting test results and unable to come into the studio. Call or email so we can come up with a solution, so you don’t have to miss out on any lessons!

We hope this clears up questions as they arise over the next few weeks and throughout cold and flu season. Each situation is also unique, so please feel free to call or email the studio to talk about it. We would love to come up with the best solution for you!

Thank you to each of you for your kindness and cooperation as we navigate such unique times.
