Back to Music

It’s that time of year again when we begin to see back to school commercials, and the aisles of our local stores putting out backpacks and pencils instead of super soakers and sidewalk chalk! Did you know that preparing to return to your music lesson is just as exciting and important as returning to school? Preparing our music binders, bags and music books is a great way to start the transition for students to gear up for a fun and productive year in lessons. We’ve compiled a short list of materials you will need for lessons, and some fun activities to get your books ready for you’re their first day back. Let’s set our music students up for success walking into their first lesson!

Here’s what you’ll need for your lessons:

1. A dedicated music binder. This is a very crucial piece to help keep students organized throughout the lesson year. We store our lesson sheets, supplementary worksheets, and extra special printed music in our binders!
2. Your music books. It’s always good to bring the books you worked in last year to your first lesson. New to lessons? Don’t worry! We will let you know which books to pick up after your first lesson!
3. A bag to store your books. A music bag makes it so easy to ‘grab and go’ on your lesson day!
4. Water bottle. This is not completely necessary, but nice to have for your lesson.

Looking for a fun craft activity to try over the next couple of weeks? Have your little one(s) create a title page for their music binder! Time to bust out the pencil crayons or paint and create a cover page that will make a music binder that stands out from the rest! This is also a great activity to help get kids inspired to return to their lessons.

Current Forte students and families will be receiving your welcome package on August 29th with everything you need to know prior to your first lesson. Lessons begin for the school year on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Interested in registering for singing or piano lessons this fall? We still have a few available lesson times. Contact the studio today to register for lessons.

We look forward to making music with you all this September!
