Meet Scotty

Scotty Hills is the newest member to the Forte School of Music team of teachers. Scotty teaches guitar, singing, as well as recording and production techniques.

His musical training:

Scotty moved to Vancouver Island in 2011. He is currently completing a bachelor of music in Jazz, as well as another in Education, both at Vancouver Island University. He is a Juno nominated songwriter and producer, and has won a Western Canadian Music Award.

Scotty HillsIn his teaching:

Scotty has a passion for teaching a theory in a method that is highly personalized to each student, in a fun way. He teaches guitar, vocals, bass, and recording/production techniques. It is without a doubt that his many musical styles such as jazz and blues will be Scotty’s Forte and have a large influence in his teaching. Scotty will also be bringing his expertise as a recording artist to Forte by offering one on one instruction for recording and production.

A little known musical fact about Scotty:

Despite Scotty’s natural musical ability and ability to learn and play by ear, he has recently started to learn harmony and counterpoint to advance his writing and understanding of composition.
